It was in a hotel room where my life would change forever. The information I received while laying on stiff white sheets was that which caused my glass lake of a life to fall prey to a meteor shower of revelations. Not for the first time in my life, I would move. Uprooted, rather harshly, like an unwanted weed, but with enough mind to heed the roots as well, so as it would not grow back. Picking a flower is a snap, a pluck, an instant. But it is chosen because it is admired. Picking a weed is a process, a hindrance, a necessity. And it is done because it must be done. To dispose of that which is not wanted. - - - - - Cover Photo Credit: Hua Tunan

It's a new year and Gauntlet finalist Codi James is back for round two. With her new position at the top ranked Battlecast Academy and with last year's victor no longer competing, it seems like the fates have aligned to give Codi a clear run at winning the tournament once and for all. Armed with state of the art equipment, a rigorous training schedule and a scholarship fund to let her focus on nothing but the Gauntlet all year round, she has one goal: first place. But this year the game has changed. She's not the plucky underdog anymore. Codi has the weight of expectations on her shoulders, and there are those who view her leap to fame through jealous eyes. This year her battles won't be confined to the arena, and now she has everything to lose. [Sequel to The Gauntlet]

One minute you're swept off your feet by the ones you love .. the next you're swept off your feet by the person who hates you. The one who can't stand you, that one person you can't stand to look at in the eye because they've known what you have done.. who in which is an exact reflection of themselves. the only person that matches the description is the mirror itself. can you accept your fate from the past? You remember the memories .. the pain ... but all that starts to become a blur as you walk into a coffee cafe. ***** living in Washington D.C as a young-aged writer, you must come up with a story within the meaning of happiness. But as you continue to write you run out of ideas.. specifically because you can't recall the time where you felt most happiness at. it's 12 noon and you've been working all night and morning, you want some coffee. As you walk into the coffee shop you're stunned by a beautiful someone who but anyone tends to see the trueness in you. maybe the happiness you haven't felt all along was included with your fate of despair. This is my entry to the Panic contest from Amazon Prime.

Hey! This is my 5th entry (I think ^^;) for the #panicwriting contest. Please read and I hope you enjoy! Feel free to give me commentary on this and any of my other stories. Story is 493 words. His only plans were going to bed and getting ready to go home the next day, but something else decided to pop in and give him a quick greeting. Catching him completely off guard and leaving him in a frenzy, just how lucky will he be tonight? Will he live to tell the tale, or is he going to become a midnight snack?
