I am joining National Geographic in the fight against single-use plastics. This is the first time I have written a short story in a long while. The moment I saw the contest inspiration, I was immediately inspired and written this short story on a whim. Enjoy reading! And good luck to all the participants. :)

The Earth is covered in humanities destruction. Earth is covered with ocean that rose to the clouds. And it is still rising. The oceans are filled with the dirty scraps of the past, and they are piling up. Humans left the Earth when the knew it was about to die. Only a few were left to suffer the consequences of the things they've done.

A dark and gruesome past created the Sea Monsters. Now in power and the most destructive creatures under the sea, they are set to fight the humans. That is until the General's daughter gets in the way with her very own plan to infiltrate land.

This is my entry(s) in the National Geographic Planet or plastic movement. We all know the numbers and can conclude that this is a serious problem and one that needs to be looked at more closely. As authors the best way we know to spread ideas is by flexing our fingers and getting behind a keyboard. Please enjoy and consider to yourself what more you could be doing in this movement.

How far will our obsession with plastic products go? Will we at least try to save our own lives, or will we turn our backs and ignore. One day, at this rate, this world will fall apart all because of the plastic we made. We would be the cause of our own disappearance.

I watched as everyone around me was throwing trash into the sea, didn't they know living animals live in there?! I quickly grabbed a trash sack and dove into the water, I put on my goggles and started putting trash in the trash sack. Then, as I looked up, I saw something that changed my perspective on animals forever.
