His father- Pen's ex husb- Alfred Debling, is a geologist from Bristol, who left for a long expedition in Alaska. At Saint Anne's Primary, Colin Bridgerton, a 33-years-old- is the new substitute literature teacher, born in Mayfair. He share with his ex wife Marina, custody of their two children, Oliver and Amanda (8-years-old twins). Pen and Colin's first meeting comes at school, at the parent-teacher conference.
