After a Virus wipes out 98% of the population, the world falls to mass hysteria. Walls are built around major cities, and only the wealthy are allowed in. This results in many people living in the Slums struggling to survive and avoiding Officers on the daily. Officers will find any excuse to arrest people and send them to work camps. Todd and Shai are two friends living out of the Slums. They like to pretend to be rich and sneak into the cities to try and steal. Todd is caught one day, and sent to a camp. Shai is determined to do something no Rat has done before: break a Rat out of a work camp. She comes across Mikko, a man kicked out of the city for using outlawed technology. He agrees to help Shai if she helps him uncover the missing Prince so that he is allowed back into the city.

Suddenly being thrown in a all men prison, Avery Morris is left confused in her cell not knowing what to do because apparently the guards don't do shit in there. And if that isn't enough she discovers something she probably shouldn't and got into a even more confusing mess she's trying to deal with. Oh, and there's also that low-key scary, emotionless looking men who's got sentenced to death she totally- definitely- absolutely didn't fall in love with. That's it. Not over you. My name is Mathew Hayes, I am 21, and I have been an inmate in Fox River for the last three years. My cell mate is Dominic Ryder, he is also my twin. But nobody knows that. You see, when I was five my parents split, Dominic went with my dad, and I stayed with my mom. Twelve years later I find out, he's been sent to this hellhole, and charged as an adult for a crime, he got manipulated to commit. And this is where I come into the picture. My plan was originally to get him out, naive, like the 17 year old I was, I thought it through, several times in my head, and a year later, I got charged for man slaughter. Don't worry, the car crash was planned, and the police never found the body. Because, there was no body, only an eyewitness, who got manipulated by my illusion. That was their excuse for discarding their child, someone that served only to embarrass their prestigious family lineage. Left to grow up in a deranged environment void of affection, Violet became desperate to break out of her mental prison and see the world beyond. When an equally unhinged man was admitted into the same facility as her and offered Violet a way to escape, the young girl took it immediately without qualms. Herald Palmer's tech company took off in the early 2040s, not unlike hundreds of others. He used the lack of attention to grow his company in the shadows. He lent money to many of the most powerful organizations in the world, and asked for the money back, right in the middle of the global economic collapse of '46. The organizations went into more debt to pay him back, while taking loans from declining banks that had borrowed money from Palmer. Using this vicious cycle of debt, Palmer slowly took over all of the organizations that owed him, including large governments. In 2050, he strengthened his hold on the world by taking over the banks that the US Government owed large sums of money to, and in turn took control of the global superpower that is the USA. By 2055, he had taken over every country in the world with any influence on the global economy. He was just a businessman in name, but with the power he held, he was essentially the king of the world. Every person with any influence over the public did nothing but sing his praises. Anyone that publicly opposed him either disappeared, or was arrested, for committing a crime that had been forged in their records. They were sent to prison for a short time, before being transferred to a mental asylum, privately owned by Herald. No one got out of the torture house that was the Palmer Psychiatric Rehabilitation Facility, until one group of hopeful rebels planned an escape.
