On the day that I decided not to wear a bra I didn't know that I would be drugged and abducted off of earth by creepy disgusting aliens. They were different in the same way. She felt trapped, like there was no escape to her misery. But, he actually was trapped. He sat inside a cell trying to prove his innocence to anyone that would listen. What happens when there brought together in a not so ideal setting? What will they do when they start to depend on each other in order to survive? But in the end, can a successful lawyer's daughter really be in love with a criminal?

This poem paints a vivid picture of someone who has lost their way and fallen into a deep pit of darkness and despair. They feel lost and confused, aimlessly wandering in a world that is brutal and unforgiving. The narrator cannot escape the all-encompassing sadness that has consumed them, and they are desperately searching for a way out. Recently I read Margaret Atwood's book The Handmaid's Tale and then I discovered this site and a writing contest for a short story inspired by it. I was stoked! I love the set-up so much I'm thinking of making it a prologue to a sci-fi novella. The woman prisoner will be a little delusional and ready to believe she's entering another dimension when she's transferred. In the prologue here you've got to wonder if the cat really exists...
