I felt the sweat trickling down my face, my breath was barely there. Lance was far ahead, his endurance surprised me, what motivated him to run so painstakingly fast every time? What... Motivated me? The snow fell from the heavens, a remnant from two years ago. When I passed the old willow tree, I remembered Grace again, like I remembered her yesterday and the day before that, and the day before that one. She was the only reason I had for putting up with that hag's ridiculous routine. I gathered my strength and trained my eyes on the horizon, picking up my speed after finding my stamina, I sprinted to Lance, just like I had done everyday. Without any words passing between us, we both ran our hardest toward the same goal. - Here is Marie Eloise Ashwinter, at just twelve years of age she's catapulted into a world of magic and mayhem after the supposed death of her dearest friend Grace.
