Jem Wall was lonely. His parents were planning on getting a divorce and had sent him away to his aunt's until they 'figured things out'. He didn't have any friends he could talk to - no phone, no contacts... Just his aunt. However, he did have the mysterious boy he'd met in the rain one gloomy morning.
