I always thought that I would have no family and no one to care about me as I cared for others. And yet, that all changed when she walked into my life. She brought me a family, and to this day, I could not understand why she chose me and not someone else. Not only did she walk into my life, but she also changed it. She changed it for better or worse, and I could not decide which was possible because she and her family were different. They were something much more than what people could see. And I was different. Not only was I blind, but I was also a Princess. I was a princess of this strange group, and I had been hidden away from birth. At the time, I did not know who I was being hidden from, but when I found out who I was hiding from, I was glad that I had been hidden. I don't remember the day I lost my sight, I don't remember the day I couldn't hear the wind anymore. But it all came so suddenly, and it was relentless. It tortured me for years, the eyes of my mother being the last thing I saw before I lost everything... Until the day I woke up to an Angel *Note from the author* This short story is a very personal tale of mine. I see it as a metaphor of my past, a way to cope with my losses. I thought it'd be a good idea to post this, as a way to say that all you people out there that you're not alone in your struggles. I'm still going through some, but I'm optimistic as hell!
