When their psychology professor announces a project called "Understanding Relationship Behavior," students must simulate a romantic relationship for four weeks and record their emotional progress through journals, photos, and weekly check-ins.
Darren, who prefers solo work, is horrified when he's paired with Gail-the campus heartbreaker who once said she'd "never date a nerd." Gail, on the other hand, finds it hilarious and decides to treat it as a fun challenge.
But as they go through staged dates, pretend fights, and late-night calls for their "report," both start feeling things they didn't plan for. Darren begins to see Gail's depth beyond her playful image, while Gail realizes that Darren's quiet care and honesty are exactly what she's been looking for.
When the project ends, they must submit their reflection papers-one of which accidentally reveals a real confession. The question is: will they keep pretending, or admit the project worked a little too well?
