This is my first story so I hope you enjoy! this is one of my favorite iwatobi ships so I had to make this. if you haven't seen iwatobi yet watch it it's amazing!

based from my own AU idea. "Candy AU: When you're a child the first candy you smell becomes your favorite scent. When you get closer to your soulmate the more you start smelling the candy's scent -- which happens to be their natural aroma." -------- Makoto works part time at a candy shop. Haru has to pass the shop every day to go home from swim practice. Makoto only smells Swedish Fish around 4:15 PM. Haru only smells Sour Patch Kids around 4:15 PM.

Nagisa Hazuki has been abused for the majority of his life. His mom is a crazy drunk, his dad, abusive, and his sisters treated him like a slave. One day on an errands' trip, he runs into Rei, and little does he know, that his life will soon turn around.

Rivalries. Territories. School vs School. The Iwatobi Community College is the higher education accessable to the average Joe of the Iwatobi School District. It is available to almost every student in the area; unlike the rival school on the other side of the district. The University of Iwatobi is a presigious form of higher education. The students progress above the years when they feel ready and work at their own pace, despite being a school tailored for the advanced scholars. Placement is only offered to the top students in the surrounding areas. These rivals, like any others have their own territories. Like Greasers and Socks, Jets and Sharks. Nobody from either school will pass the sushi bar on Kyoto Street when in uniform. It's too dangerous. Ryugazaki Rei, a first time first year scholar at the University of Iwatobi, like any other student; works for money. Working close to home has its conveniences- too bad he has a scholarship to the rival school. Rei lives in the heart of the community college territory. An outsider. An outcast. A pariah. Somehow his CV got him a job at the little coffee shop about ten minutes from the college and ten minutes away from the border. This loner is left mesmorised by the coffee shop regulars; particularly fellow first year Hazuki Nagisa of the community college. Will there be secret rendezvous by the milky lates or a Romeo and Juliet sob story? And will the meddler with the coconut shampoo make or break them?

Nagisa has always liked Rei and asks his friends how he should approach the situation what he doesn't know is that Rei feels the same way.

"I said. I'm just emotionally distraught." Nagisa frowned, "But, why Rei? What happened?" he seemed very concerned, well, he should be. This is serious! "Well um, I went to see The Beauty and the Beast after practice yesterday..." I started, but Nagisa being Nagisa, he cut me off. "Wait wait, you missed a day of school, and, practice, because of a movie?" "I know it sounds ridiculous but it was just so, wonderful! The acting, the music, I don't understand it, I wish I could be able to do something that beautiful..."

Free!, its characters, or any images used are not mine. Nagisa and Rei struggle with their feelings for each other. They are troubled in different ways, but for the same reason. Rei struggles to accept that he is gay. He wishes he felt more than just friendship to girls. His parents are homophobic, so he grew up believing that being gay is wrong. What makes it worse is he is in love with his hyper best friend. He is struggling to believe that what he is feeling does not meet his beautiful expectations, and that he may have to live the rest of his life feeling this way. Nagisa has begun to realize he is gay, and has started to accept it... However, he is keeping these emotions trapped inside, not telling anyone. He knows his family won't accept him for liking guys. He really does love Rei, but he doesn't know how to cope with these emotions by himself. Everyday he puts on a smile and pretends that nothing is going on, but he comes closer and closer to reaching is breaking point.

How does one say goodbye to the one he loves most? [ definitely cried writing this. like, a lot. ]

I posted this on AO3 over 2 years ago but might as well post it here too. AU where Makoto is a pizza delivery man. Haru orders pizza. Haru continues to order pizza as an excuse to see hot Makoto again.
