Teachers Who See Strength in Sensitivity is a poetry collection offered in tribute to the kind teachers who recognized strength within me when others saw only sensitivity, and a student quietly struggling with life.
My earliest classroom memories begin in Zahle, Lebanon, where I was blessed with a gentle and attentive kindergarten teacher named Mademoiselle Ghada. She often remarked to my parents that I was unusually mature for my age and, as she was studying psychology, even conducted a small observational study of my development. I did not write a poem about her, as my memories from that time are faint due to my young age, yet her kindness remains an important part of my story.
The poems in this collection begin with my first teacher in Hostenbach, Saarland, Germany, then move to my most meaningful high-school teachers, and finally to the university professors who taught me in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Together, these poems honor the brilliant educators who guided me with patience, compassion, and respect.
They are written for teachers who understood that grades do not always measure a student's worth, and that effort, empathy, and humanity truly matter.
Through memory and reflection, each poem carries moments that shaped my heart, my mind, and my soul.
This collection is a quiet and sincere expression of gratitude to the teachers who recognized that kindness and sensitivity are not weaknesses, but the highest forms of wisdom.
