Just after 10:39 PM in Birchwood, Minnesota, Anne and Atticus met two uniformed police officers at the door. Atticus had become an orphan when his father and soon to be stepmother died in a car accident. Anne had lost her mother, Annie, and her future step dad. Atticus is sent to live with his closest relative, his cousin Cody, who graciously takes in Anne after another heartbreaking event. As both of their worlds shatter around them, the two somehow manage to band together in hope through the pain, seeing each other for new- but broken- people for the first time.

Ava Hardwicke finds life at Valence Manour difficult. She doesn't stand out from the crowd and has hardly any friends. On top of that, she got cheated on by her boyfriend and now just sits back and keeps her head down. That is until William Kingsley arrives at her school. Dark and mysterious Will only seems interested in music and popular girls, but for some reason, he notices her out of everybody else. They argue over many things and many people and they always just seem to clash. But as his hidden past begins to be unraveled, more and more surprising aspects of him are revealed. Ava is never sure of him, but is drawn to him like a magnet and must choose between logic and lust. And, for her, it's proving to be very difficult.

I don't hate men, i only love my self and want her to live the one life she has for herself and not for anyone else. Living, as a woman, in a society where the Man is at the top of everything is so provoking and insulting to my human being.
