It happened so fast. I knew that having a woman in my employment would be dangerous, but I foolishly believed I could obtain happiness if she stayed in my life. Like a blazing fire extinguished, she suddenly left me to drown in my once treasured but now suffocating solitude. ~*~*~*~*~ Disclaimer: This is a continuation of the one shot, 'Rage, Betrayal and Despair' from the fanfiction, "Tales of the Fiery Ifrit and the Iceberg". The events that transpire within this are not happy and will most likely leave you upset and with negative feels. I apologize in advance for the emotional turmoil this may cause you. Also, I DO NOT wish for the things that happen in this story to actually occur in the real book. This is just a what-if scenario, not something I want in the original story. 'Mr.Linton? Is everything alright? I believe you look quite ill than usual,' his calm yet slightly distressed voice echoed through the walls of his office. I could barely remember the last time I felt content with my life. I might get married soon and there won't be a single thing I could do about it, especially with my aunt tailing behind me. 'Am I alright? I am afraid I do not have a definite answer to your question, sir. Why do you ask, sir? Do not concern yourself with my petty feelings. I shall take care of myself. I am an independent woman and currently under the employ of one of the richest man in the entire England. I am fully capable of putting myself together and I shall be even better off with a chocolate bar...' I ranted monotonously for eternity without giving much of a thought. Blast you, human brain! 'Is that so, Mr.Linton?' he questioned again. I could see his little finger twitch while he maintained an icy cool demeanor. Somehow, I already knew he sensed my false claim. And with a swift movement he picked up his ink pen and started writing something against a white parchment. I let out a sigh. Lillian, what did you expect? 'Because I love you, you arrogant son of a bachelor' I huffed. Wait What? Did I just say what I think I just said? No. That's impossible, feminists don't go around telling chauvinistic bastards that they love them. So why was my heart racing? I dared to look up at his hard, stony face, and I was met with undeniable silence. 'Well, say something' I demanded. Silence.

3 years since Lilly Linton met Rikkard Ambrose, the cold, hard business magnet...so chiseled and carries out his actions swiftly and immaculately. 3 years since their relationship began, with Lilly still disguised as a man, and working as Mr Ambrose's very private secretary. They no longer deny their attraction towards one another, instead, they embrace it and face the reality of their dangerous charade. No longer can they hide the facts any longer, after all, knowledge is power is time is money, right? However...Lilly's formidable opponent, her own aunt, is desperate to marry Lilly off...and this times, her aunt is determined to marry Lilly off, no matter what it takes. The dynamic of boss and employee has resumed after a stormy trip back from Isle Marbeau. As a recap, Mr. Ambrose had almost confessed his growing attachment to the ifrit after they had retrieved the 'center of the world' and were on their way back to London when the storm hit. Now, Lord Daniel Eugene Dalgliesh is out for blood, grasping at any straw to bring Mr. Ambrose to his knees. And that straw might just be our favorite chocolate-loving secretary... MISS Lilly Linton.
