This is a full length fanfic story inspired by the fabulous Storm & Silence books by @RobThier - most of the characters remain the intellectual property of Rob Thier apart from a few that came from my own imagination. You really need to have read at least the first book of the series ('Storm & Silence') to fully understand the background to this story... and if you haven't read it, WHY NOT?! Rikkard Ambrose, granite faced miser and richest man in the British Empire, has fallen for the woman he makes dress as a man called Victor so she can be employed as his personal secretary every day. She is Miss Lillian Linton, a fiery feminist who craves freedom, independence and female equality, but also finds herself attracted to adventure and the human iceberg that pays her wages. To complicate matters, Ambrose's nemesis and business rival Lord Daniel Eugene Dalgliesh has threatened to harm any woman that he ever forms an attachment to ... and he's getting very suspicious about the relationship between Ambrose, his secretary Mr Victor Linton and the secretary's 'twin sister' Lillian. Then Ambrose discovers that Dalgliesh is hunting for a long lost treasure that many believe to be a myth. But Ambrose knows that it is no myth and is utterly priceless, so decides that he has to beat his rival to the prize - especially as it seems that the treasure may not be as far away as everyone suspects. Along the way new friendships will be formed, fears will be faced, lives will be lost and nerves will be tested. Will Ambrose beat his arch enemy to the treasure and can he keep the one that he's already found (Lilly) safe and alive? Will Dalgliesh discover the truth about our two favourite Victorian adventurers? Who is the new man in Lilly's life and who is the seemingly friendly little old lady that keeps popping up everywhere?

After their return from the Americas, Lily, Mr. Ambrose, and Karim travel to a property Mr. Ambrose is thinking of purchasing to investigate mysterious events that have transpired. The caretaker of the property claims that the property is haunted by the ghost of Anne Boleyn, the beheaded queen of Henry the Eighth. Lily, Mr. Ambrose, and Karim investigate his claims and discover an insidious plot that could change history! I do not own the picture on the cover, nor the characters used in the story.

And now, Johann is creeping into Rikkard's life and is dangerously close to toppling the empire he built from dust. Lilly Linton did not want to be the one to inform her boss' family that he was supposedly dead and lost at sea. She knew that things could go awry, but the charming Johann Ambrose was not part of her back-up plan Z. His efforts to court her and Rikkard's sudden return to Battlewood is just driving her insane. Lily wasn't sure this was part of the work requirements. Empire House is back in business. _____________________________ AU-ish where everything does not go to plan starting the end of the first book. Definitely an AU where Rikkard and Lilly deal with Battlewood far sooner than Sir Rob paced it, honestly.

Summer has come to London, with all of its warmth, hope, beauty, and romantic atmosphere. It is a time of adventure and new discoveries. However, Lilly Linton is having trouble enjoying the so-called pleasant weather. The fiery feminist has endured a few months under the employ of Mr. Rikkard Ambrose, however it seems that not even the sunny season can thaw her employer's icy façade. That is, until a certain correspondence changes everything and Lilly, Mr. Ambrose, and Karim are sent on trip they won't soon forget. Only in the summer can the days grow longer, the nights turn warmer, and the unexpected be anticipated. NOTE: All wonderful major characters, settings, and references to previous plots from "Storm and Silence" belong to Robert Thier. The appearance of my own original characters and settings will be evidently obvious.
