The prophecy was clear: A hero's soul, a cursed blade shall reap.
In the original timeline, we all know how it went down. Luke Castellan, the hero who betrayed us all, finally saw the light. He took Annabeth's dagger, found the tiny spot under his arm where he was still human, and stabbed himself to destroy Kronos once and for all. He died a hero's death, ending the war but leaving a scar on the heart of every demigod at Camp Half-Blood.
Except, that's not exactly how it happened this time.
In this version of the story, Luke survives the "reaping." When the cursed blade struck his Achilles heel, it didn't take his life-it just took the part of him that belonged to the Titan Lord. Kronos was cast back into the pits of Tartarus, but Luke stayed behind on the marble floor of the throne room, broken and very much alive.
Now, the war is over, but the real battle is just beginning. How does a guy who tried to destroy Western Civilization go back to eating s'mores at the campfire? How does he look his brothers in the eye after leading an army against them? And most importantly, how do Percy and Annabeth help their oldest friend find a way to live when the gods-and half the camp-want him turned into a target for archery practice?
It turns out, surviving the prophecy was the easy part. Living with the consequences is the real quest.
