[SPONSORED BY TELUS] For Winona Prescott, senior year was supposed to be simple; get good grades, graduate and have a bit of fun on the side. But when a video of her kissing another girl goes viral throughout the entire school overnight, everything takes a turn for the worse. Friends she once trusted turn on her, peers shut her out and her only comfort is from a friendship she once thought was lost. Winona just wants everyone to forget the video ever existed. But then the messages start to appear. Repeatedly, Winona's phone is filled with hate messages from an unknown account. She tries to delete them, they come back. She tries to ignore them, the paranoia sets in. Soon there are groups and pages, all spewing hate directed right at her and Winona is crumbling under the pressure. From the relationship with her dad, to the cold shoulder from everyone at school and the faceless person targeting her, Winona doesn't know what to do. Because the scariest opponent is the one you can't see.

This anti-bullying one-shot is a piece of fiction meant to raise awareness on cyberbullying as part of the Telus/WeDay campaign. However, it is an extreme example of what approximately one in two teens go through. If you are not comfortable with this serious topic, then I suggest not reading this. Otherwise, read on!

It hurts more than you think, being cyberbullied. Why? Because it's always there, it can never go away unless you disappear and throw your phone in a ditch. But who wants to do that? So yeah, all of life sucks and then this happens and you just want to go and die. Until someone actually stands up for you. #riseabove #endbullying

I wrote this essay to raise awareness the cause. Cyberbullying is a very unfortunate thing. However, Wattpad is currently holding a competition to write an essay against cyberbullying but I did not meet the guidelines so I decided to write the essay anyway to support the cause. This essay will give you a feel of what it's like to be cyberbullied. None of us want this happening to us or any of our lived ones. So let's join together to help those in need. Poetry is just art that has impact on lives that believe it speaks to them.. My work is basically centered on my life experiences. One thing I believe about poetry is that you should not be driven by the fact that you want to earn from it but just let it be something that comes from within, and maybe have a positive impact to society. A principle that guides me, ' do not let anyone change the way you do your things because interestingly when the same people do their own things someone out there also thinks they have done it wrong'.
