In Ashmoor, magic is forbidden, and every spark can be fatal. The government watches, scouts known as Harrows hunting anyone who shows even the slightest unnatural ability. Those accused are taken to the Nulling, where their powers are drained, and most never return.
Witchcraft is not inherited. It is awakened, triggered by trauma, grief, or desperation. Some wield Lumina, the magic of herbs, potions, tarot, and subtle curses, the kind whispered about in rumors and superstition. Others awaken Auric, a deeper, more potent magic drawn from crystals, runes, and the veils between worlds. And then there is Brim, dark and rare, a force so powerful that those who awaken it cannot hide, their presence alone enough to draw fear and attention.
Power comes at a cost, and nothing is as it seems. Secrets lie behind every shadow, and survival is never guaranteed. In Ashmoor, to awaken is to gamble with your life and perhaps discover that the true danger is not what you can do, but what they want from you.
