She manages to get by with the barest of necessities, counting every cent, saving every penny, and dodging her sleezy landlord like her very life is at stake. Working three jobs every week while struggling through school, Diana is nearly burnt out. Bills keep piling up and so are her worries. So when she sees a sketchy ad calling for models, offering $44 per hour, she takes it, ready to risk her life for a simple chance at salvation. However, when she arrives at the interview, everything goes wrong before she even gets to meet the artists. Feeling more embarrassed than she ever had in her entire life, she leaves, deciding to search for another job. But, unexpectedly, she receives a call and finds out she's been hired. And, on top of that, she's being paid three months in advance.

She left no work, but now an archive of her notes and sketches has come into the possession of Mary Reynolds, who is determined to resurrect the artist's life and reconstruct her work. She contacts people who knew Eileen as a child and as a student in London. She follows the artist on a hippie trip to Thailand. Via these partial memories, she recreates the artist and her work.
