I remember that day like it was yesterday, because the days after passed as if they were minutes. My heart fluttered when I first heard his name, and when I saw his face it felt like my life had finally found its purpose. When we met his bright, blue eyes sparkled in a way that put the stars in the sky to shame. We talked all day about random things and I felt like I was in a fairytale. We walked home hand in hand and swore we would be best friends forever. The months after were all memories of him, never a joyous moment without him by my side, never a sad time without my head on his shoulder. We grew even closer than ever thought possible and kept the promise we made on that first day. We thought we would be friends for an eternity but, it turned out we were destined to be so much more. Our fates were intertwined, and there was no escaping it. He and I were written in the stars. That summer was when I really started living. Up until then I was just a ghost of my true self, because when he said I love you, I felt myself awaken from the pleasant dream that was my life. We weren’t written in the stars, we couldn’t be, not now not ever, because he was a stable boy and I was the daughter of one of the richest women in the country. It was forbidden for him to even look me in the eye, much less love me. So in the heat of summer, our love was doomed to midnight meetings and forest floor picnics. Now looking back at us I would give anything to go back to that very summer and live it all again, I would only change one thing if I could, and it would change everything.
