The early rivalry between Rikkard Ambrose and Daniel Eugene Dangeliesh. An entry for the storm and silence fan fiction contest. If for some odd reason, you found this and you're NOT reading the storm and silence saga(really series but saga sounds cooler), I recommend it. It has a witty and charming (yet devilish) heroine, hilarious side characters, a maliciously handsome love interest (or two) and truly loathable antagonist. Along with an adorable backyard romance, Victorian feminism, hoops skirts, ball rooms, murder and/or sabotage, seven flights of evil stairs, exploding walls, stingy uncles, solid chocolate, lots of "Awws" some for cuteness, some for disappointment, but that's what you get when the authors a tease.
