It gets better. Isn't that what they say? Amethyst Turner isn't so sure. She waits and waits, but things only get worse. She sees happy families on TV, with a father and mother that love each other and their kids. They have a dog, and a nice house with curtains and heating. And the little girl in the TV family, she sleeps on a fluffy mattress, not a cardboard box. Her Daddy takes her to the park to play fetch with the dog when he comes home from work instead of getting drunk and passing out. TV girl's mother doesn't ignore her; she braids her hair and plays tea party with her. She looks and looks for the love that she knows is out there for her -- but it's nowhere to be found. Abuse is an issue often whispered about in corners, or hidden behind through romantic movies and music. Depicted as the new normal, very few stand against it. This month we step out out of the shadows and we shine light on this topic that often leaves us with few words to say. As we leave behind 2016 and enter into the new year. We uncover ways to deal with abuse and how to speak out. We will nolonger stand in shame but we will step out from the confines of society.

Taking a deep dive to explore overwhelming issues- the inevitable reality check and an attempt to allow flowers to bloom from the ashes with a rather twisted sense of humor. So, remembering it makes me even more desperate to return to Dale Woods- the place I was born, the place where everything happened that changed my life. Just some thoughts and emotions I have about the world. It's really just me wanting peace.

To the world, he's a delinquent. He's trailer trash with a no-good family and no future. However, when somebody reaches out and tries to help him, he realizes that there is a chance he could live beyond what he's capable of and break the expectations the world has of him.

I usually write stories for other people. Brave people who needed a voice. People who wanted to be heard about their own horrific and personal injustices. I wanted to show them same people my story. It is Graphic, raw and triggering. It took three years of therapy. One stolen draft and a lot of tears. This is me. This is my story.
