This book contains a daily dose of positivity. Sometimes, words are all people look for when they are carrying heavy responsibilities, silent struggles, and years of unheard and unseen emotions. A few comforting words can make someone feel understood, even when they don't know how to express what they are going through. But sometimes, words aren't enough. Still, I hope the words in this book reach you at the right time and help you in some way. Maybe you will find a little comfort, hope, strength, or simply a reminder that you are not alone. Read these words whenever you need them. Take what feels right for you, and leave behind what doesn't. I hope this book becomes a small place you can return to whenever life feels a little too heavy.

Distance is rarely as simple as geography. It can take many forms, change meaning from one story to the next, and appear where nobody expects it. Across different cities, professions, friendships, disasters, bad decisions, suspicious circumstances, and encounters that were never part of the plan, ordinary routines shift in ways no one quite expects. Some people meet someone from countries away. Others confront someone much closer to home. A few discover that the person standing across from them is not necessarily the most dangerous thing in the room.

Three years ago, Caleb McKay changed Rose's life without ever realizing it. Now they're at the same university. But Rose isn't the awkward girl he remembers, Caleb isn't nearly as carefree as he pretends to be, and the friendship between Caleb and his best friend Blake is about to become far more complicated than either of them expects. Caleb has spent most of his life chasing the next distraction, basketball, alcohol, parties, girls, anything loud enough to drown out the suspicion that he will never quite be enough. Rose has spent years trying to become someone worth choosing. And Blake has spent his entire life doing everything right, only to realize that the perfect future waiting for him may be the last thing he actually wants. Between first loves and old wounds, jealousy and loyalty, family expectations and friendships pushed to their breaking point, the three of them will have to figure out who they are when the people around them stop telling them who they should be. Some people come into your life to love you. Some come to break your heart. And some do both.

There are things we never name. A street we still remember without meaning to. A photograph we keep for reasons we cannot explain. A voice that belongs to another time. A place that feels different because someone once stood there. Somewhere between leaving and staying, between remembering and forgetting, there are little pieces of a life that refuse to disappear. Little Pieces of Everything is a collection of poems about what lingers-the moments that quietly follow us home, the people who become ghosts without ever dying, the love that was never given a proper ending, and the versions of ourselves that exist only in memory. Not every story has a beginning you can remember. Not every goodbye sounds like goodbye. And not everything we lose is truly gone. Perhaps some things are meant to remain- not as answers, but as little pieces of everything.

Some wounds never bleed, yet they hurt the most. This book is for the people who smile while carrying battles no one knows about. For the ones who stay strong for everyone else but quietly fall apart when they are alone. For the ones who overthink every word, blame themselves for things they couldn't control, and keep asking, "Am I enough?" Mental health is not only about depression or anxiety. Sometimes it is the silent exhaustion of pretending to be okay. Sometimes it is the fear of being judged, the habit of hiding your feelings, or the voice in your mind that keeps telling you that you are not good enough. These pages will not promise a perfect life or tell you to "just be positive." They are here to help you understand yourself with honesty, patience, and kindness. Sometimes, healing does not begin when someone gives you advice. It begins when you finally feel understood. If even one page makes you feel less alone, helps you breathe a little easier, or reminds you that your mind deserves kindness too, then these words have found the right person. Maybe that person is you.

I made this as a sequel to Beckie Shellenberger's The Incredible Teddy Bear. Here, our main character is also a thirteen year old who, like Ted, feels the world as too much and she also thinks and feels things very deeply. Her name is Maya. This story takes place several years after Ted's story. Rather than a pair of older twin brothers going to Curiosity's Corner for a joke gift, it's her older cousin, Tyler who's been like an older brother to her for years since both their parents struggled with infertility. Mr. Greaves, the story owner, will actually be pulling this out from under the counter having saved it for a long time for just this day: a talking Penny Morris doll from the 80s during the stop motion era of Fireman Sam. Come join Maya as she finds the anchor she never realized she needed and discovers the woman she can become. No copyright infringement intended.

(A personal piece chosen to be in the top 10 for the Mind Over Matter Contest) Please don't hesitate to view my other works as well as request a cover from my cover book! :) The world thrives on pain. It is never about the happy ending, the prize, reward or the success. Life is about the journey. How we got there, what we had to endure. It's about the pain we all feel. The pain that pushes us forward but can also throw us so far back in our progress. At least, that's how I see it. You can't have happiness without sadness or success without failure. I thought my life was perfect, glorious, spotless. I was content with myself and the future that I was producing. That was all before everything changed. I became tired, confused, lonely and the only thing I could truly blame was my own head, my own thoughts. I had to learn the true meaning of being myself and how to want to live again. The thoughts in my head, constantly manipulating me, insulting me, tearing me apart slowly and fading out all of my originality, were relentless. This 500 word piece shows my struggle, my failure, my regret but also, describes my success, my future, and my happiness. I could not be where I am now without this hardship, without learning how to make the voices hush.

"Isabella-Rose wait! Rosie! Wait, please stop!" but I didn't listen I just kept going, the humiliation was just giving me enough motivation to get far away from him as fast as I can. But then then he eventually caught up and stepped in front of me and he held my big shoulders. But I refused to look at him in the eye so my eyes were glued to the ground. "Look at me." he said with such a demanding tone that I just gave in and looked up. "I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings, I told you that I love you and that I care about you, but just not the way you want me to. You're my best friend's niece Isabella-Rose. You're like my little sister. I deeply care about you, and I like our conversations, I don't want us to stop talking to each other. But I'm just way too old for you, I'm 24 you're 17 that's a 7 year age gap. That's way too old." as he said all this I couldn't stop thinking of how foolish I've been.

I stepped into the bathroom, glaring at the reflection in the mirror. My eyes wandered across my features, taking in the disgusting view I found. A thin, gaunt face with shadowed brown eyes, thin lips, and a large nose. Coffee-colored hair framed it, curled in random directions and reaching the nape of the neck. Gangly arms and legs, no obvious muscles. A slight belly, from lack of excercise. I wanted to look more like the other guys at my school, with the huge biceps and tanned skin. The ones who had so many friends and who laughed all day. Why wasn't I good enough for anyone to even want to be my friend? I reached out to the mirror, running my fingers across the cold surface, pretending to caress my face gently. Lies bubbled in my throat, and I forced them out. They would make me feel better, as they always did. "Don't forget, Elliot Xiu. You are beautiful." x x x Trigger Warning: Anorexia, depression, verbal assault (boyxboy)

Some rants and random things about my mental health over the past few years, just felt like I wanted to share them. Writing and thought dumps are my outlets for processing my emotions on bad days. This is my experience and by no way a guide on how other people should be navigating their mental health journeys, but hopefully a good example of the kinds of things that have helped me through the darkness. The first few chapters were written in a very dark period, so read at your own discretion and stay safe. The latter chapters are a bit more constructive as I have learned techniques to cope, become kinder to myself and have been removed from situations that were worsening my mental health over my teenage years. I have no idea if it will help anyone to see this progression or even just to read the recent chapters and have a look at my thought processes and methods that are helping me make it through. If it does help I will be very happy :)
