Welcome to a world where time travel isn't science fiction-it's public transportation.
Tourists ride chronoshuttles to ancient civilizations, commuters skip centuries to get to work on time, and entire industries revolve around navigating the infinite flow of past, present, and future. But with this incredible freedom comes danger: unknown invaders and criminals who attack different periods across time for a reason no one knows yet.
In this future-specifically the 56th century-the story follows Hiroshi Tokuya, a boy labeled a "prodigy" for his encyclopedic knowledge of time physics and his unwavering dream of joining the elite Time Defenders: guardians trained to protect the spacetime continuum.
However, Hiroshi was born with a major setback-he lacks Vortex, the innate stamina-based temporal energy every defender requires. Because his father had Vortex and his mother did not, his birth left him with zero Vortex output, making him "talentless" in the eyes of society despite his brilliance.
His life changes when a catastrophic lab explosion engulfs him in unstable chronal energy. Instead of killing him, it rewrites his biology, granting him a mutated, rare ability known as Time Cortex-a power that lets him temporarily manipulate time at the cost of his own physical strain. Slowing the world, speeding it up, rewinding his own movements-Time Cortex is powerful but dangerous and unpredictable.
His sudden transformation catches the attention of Callias Xenon, an enigmatic Greek philosopher-turned-CEO of the Time Defense Organization (TTDO), the first Time Defender in history, and leader of the legendary elite team known as The Time League. Recognizing the potential in Hiroshi's unstable ability-and moved by the boy's determination-Callias adopts him as his disciple.
