Der vorliegende Band stellt eine besonders anschauliche Materialkategorie der erkennungsdienstlichen Polizeiarbeit dar: die sogenannten „Mugshots", also polizeiliche Täterbilder. Für mich persönlich ist das ein besonders spannender Zugang zur österreichischen Kriminalgeschichte sowie zur Geschichte der österreichischen Kriminalistik. Ich bedanke mich bei den Autoren für ihre akribische Arbeit und wünsche den Leserinnen und Lesern eine erkenntnisreiche und spannende Lektüre. It is perhaps less well known that this epoch was unfortunately also a time of rising crime, along with a rapid development in the methods of criminalistics. This volume presents a particularly descriptive category of police identification material, the so-called „mugshots", i.e. images of offenders in police files. For me personally, this is a particularly exciting approach to Austrian criminal history and the history of Austrian criminalistics.
