Elora and her brother, Francis, escaped the refuge together and rode away on the back of Theodore Roosevelt's carriage. While passing by the Brooklyn bridge, the carriage jolted and the young girl fell off. Unfortunately, her brother didn't see. Her whole world goes dark as the carriage and her brother disappears down the street. When she comes to, she is in a bunk room filled with clearly very strong boys.
