Perfection. Everyone wants it. You can try to resist it, talk yourself out of it, but we all fall under its spell eventually. We want it. We need it. It seems so simple, so innocent. You'd think that perfection makes us complete. But paired with our insecurity and human nature, it can bring us our own destruction. Why do we so desperately want what we cannot have? Why can't we see the truth in the mirror, rather than the shroud we've conjured over it? Because those aren't really our thoughts. Those aren't really our eyes. We watch the reflection through the eyes of society and long for something that will forever be out of our reach. There is no such thing as perfect time, but that doesn't stop us from seeking it. So what happens when your search for perfection goes too far?

❝She was a sunflower, and even though she never faced the sun, she was still beautiful.❞ When Finnegan Annson reunites with his anything-but-boring, garden-scented childhood friend Orenda May Castellano on a cold winter day, it's no secret that his uneventful life slowly alters into a marathon of new beginnings. And so begins a story about a girl that saw the world in its utmost colours and gradients, and a boy that could not see what the world really had to offer him. Literally. But when Orenda flings Finn into her world of colours and hands him a paintbrush, and their footsteps turn into dapples of colour, perhaps he can see the beauty. And maybe he can see the wonders that no one else can really see at all. After all, anybody can create a masterpiece. Even if it's just with a sucky paintbrush. © 2015 Jennifer Chen (wonder1238) All Rights Reserved

This is my entry for #DigitalAMAwithRheea for "The Body Myth" contest. Excerpt: * The woman was sitting on a park bench in West Point Gardens, where I came every sunday for a five- kilometer walk. She couldn't see me but I had to stop midstride to stare at her. I looked at her for three reasons. 1. Her face was twisted in contemplation; 2. She was wearing a beige kurta with a transparent golden dupatta; and 3. She was fucking gorgeous. I'm a woman who takes great pleasure in noticing other woman, in raw appreciation for our sex, but also as a comparative study. I could not, however take the time to asses her beauty. She was up to something strange. Her head darted behind and to the side. I was sure she was checking if anyone was looking at her. She was at the centre of a vast bamboo garden. No one else was in the garden. I was at the corner, out of her view. She looked back to the center, her facial muscles tweaked with confidence. She took a few deep breaths and stared to tremble. * Continued in the next chapter. I hope y'all like it. Thank you.

"Joshua come on, you don't even have to spend a lot of money on me. I don't want anything fancy, just the day to spend with my husband." "Do you like nice things?" he asks me letting out a deep breath of air. "What?" "Do you like nice things? You know, your brand new 2013 Nissan Altima, the big house you live in?" He sounds short of breath, probably because he's trying his best not to curse me out in front of his colleagues. "Well, yeah." "Well, in order to preserve and obtain more nice things I have to work. And my job comes with numerous meetings, you know that. So why are you giving me a hard time?" I'll just find someone else to spend my birthday with me. "Never mind Joshua. I'll find something else to do tomorrow," I say with the threat of tears blurring my vision. Surely someone in this town has no plans on a Friday night. "I'm glad that's settled. Thank you for wasting my precious time," he says sarcastically. "Sorry, I just wanted to feel special for a day."

If asked, baby Emily Robinson would have gleefully said that, her life revolved around two cornerstones: volleyball, Riley. Volleyball was the passion that gave her life. Riley was the "special friend" that fueled said passion and offered an otherwise insecure, shy little girl the means to grow up strong, confident, badass. Professional volleyball was a dream close to becoming true. Riley was reality. The most reassuring one. If asked, Emily would have said, she could not live without those two. That's why when, in a matter of months, she loses both, Emily's life starts spiraling down. The self consciousness about her looks goes from easily containable to fullout war waging deep inside her, menacing to bring her down any minute. So when, four years later, Riley comes back, he finds that his cutely shy Honeybee has turned into a beautiful quasi woman that is inexplicably paralyzed by fears. How can he help her regain the strength she had? And what happens when he starts realizing that indeed, his Honeybee is no longer a child, she's become a dangerously attractive girl. How can he help her fight her demons, without letting his mind and heart stray? He can't fall for the same child he used to babysit ... or can he? Highest rank #14 in General Fiction (04/08/2017)

ON HOLD!! HAS 33 CHAPTERS THOUGH AND I WILL UPDATE! JUST NOT AS OFTEN. "Can you please go out with me?" he begged. "No." she answered, walking away. "Why?" he yelled behind her, in a high-pitched voice. "Because you only like the fact that I look like a donut," she turned around laughing as her hair hit her bright red nose.
