Chapter One - A Stranger in the Group It had been a terrible day for Christiana. She had just had a serious argument with her friends because of Anita's boyfriend. Christiana had tried explaining that she had no interest in him, but Anita wouldn't listen. "You're supposed to be my best friend!" Anita had shouted. "And I am!" Christiana replied. "That's why I'm trying to explain everything to you!" But Anita had already made up her mind. The argument ended with Christiana walking away, hurt and frustrated. That evening, she stayed in her room, scrolling through her phone without really paying attention to anything. Then a notification popped up. It was from a group chat she had recently joined. People were talking and joking around, and Christiana decided to join the conversation just to take her mind off everything. That's when she noticed a message from someone called Michael. Michael had made a funny comment, and Christiana laughed for the first time that day. She replied to him. A few minutes later, he responded. Michael: "So you're finally talking?" Christiana: "Was I supposed to be quiet?" Michael: "I thought you were one of those people who just watches everyone in the group." Christiana: "Maybe I was watching you." Michael paused before replying. Michael: "Oh really? 👀" Christiana laughed. Their conversation continued long after everyone else in the group had stopped talking. They discovered that they had a lot in common. What started as a simple conversation slowly became something they both looked forward to. Neither of them thought much of it at first. To Christiana, Michael was just a boy she had met in a group. To Michael, Christiana was just an interesting girl who had caught his attention. But sometimes, the most important people in our lives enter quietly. And neither Christiana nor Michael knew that this stranger in a group chat would soon become much more than a stranger.

She kept sacrificing her happiness, her comfort, and even her own needs because she believed that was what she was supposed to do. But sometimes, a person can keep giving and giving until there is simply nothing left to give. This poem is about that moment-the moment when Sunaina doesn't become angry or bitter. She simply becomes tired. Tired of the guilt, the responsibilities, the constant worries, and of always having to be strong for everyone else. About the Author I am Lavanya Y. Rao, and this poem comes from a deeply personal place in my life. I have been going through many of the emotions described in this poem myself-the feeling of carrying responsibilities, putting others before myself, sacrificing my own needs, and quietly dealing with pain that isn't always visible to the people around me. I wrote Sunaina's story from my own experiences and emotions. Some parts may be written as a story about her, but the feelings behind them are mine.
