this is my tenth mini-collection this year. all of them have tied together unforgettable details as I compulsively document my life through my writing, offering glimpses into a secret world in which only I inhabit. with this collection, I will have written over 500 poems within the year. I wrote this in May of 2015, while trying to come to terms with my struggles with addiction; after years of numbing myself with substances. On March 1, 2017, that nightmare finally came to an end when I surrendered and asked for help. I read it often, and while it may seem to glorify those days, it is a reminder to me that they were troubling times and I must remain vigilant in using my best judgement, always. There are always temptations around us in life. Today, after much hard work, I have the insight to recognize that. Reminders of my previous life help me to realize the progress I have made, over time, and the hope that I continue to have for a brighter future... One day at a time.
