Violet Hopper, age 15 is taken away from her home in District 5 where only 2 people can win a blood-thirsty competition. It's name? The Gods' Game. The Gods' Game was a game created by the ancient Greeks and whoever died in this godly battle was sacrificed to the gods as an offering of peace and a long, stable empire. Of course, it was picked up by the Romans as well, but when their empire fell, the games were long forgotten. Until now, in present day America, where democracy is at it's all time low and people are turning to the gods of Greek and Roman mythology.

This is a short fan fiction about Katniss and her father before the 74th Annual Hunger Games. I wrote this in Grade 9 and I'm extremely proud of this work of literature. Hopefully you'll enjoy it just as much as I loved writing it!

This is my poetic retelling of the Hunger Games through the point of view of a whole bunch of different characters, not just Katniss Everdeen. Please don't criticize this for not staying exactly like the book. Who would want to read something just like the Hunger Games?
