Sherlock is absorbed in his mind palace in 2017, before suddenly being pulled forwards to 2033. He gets to spend one day with a sixteen year old Rosie Watson, while she fills him in on her life so far.

Sherlock has loved John since the day he met him, he just didn't know it yet. Perhaps after two years of absence he would be able to confess his love now, be able to realise that he can't live without the soldier by his side, if John would take him.
