UNHOLY - A Harrington Universe Novel
Summary:
Six years ago, Aurora Harrington - the half-vampire, half-human daughter of Cole Harrington, a three-hundred-year-old vampire CEO and the most powerful man in New York - was deployed to Afghanistan. Within months, she was captured by operatives working for Viktor Draven, a centuries-old vampire warlord with a singular obsession: severing the Harrington bloodline from existence. Aurora was taken to an underground facility where she was subjected to four months of torture and experimentation at the hands of an unnamed doctor who treated her body as a biological specimen - performing a forced bilateral mastectomy, a full hysterectomy, multiple biopsies, and breaking her left hand four times to study hybrid regeneration rates. All procedures were performed while she was conscious.
Aurora Harrington was declared killed in action. An empty casket was buried. Her father grieved. Her mother, Cage Harrington - already dying of cancer - passed away during Aurora's captivity. Aurora didn't learn of her mother's death until two years later, in a military hospital in Germany.
But Aurora didn't die. What died was the performance - the identity she'd been hiding behind since she was fifteen years old. The torture stripped away every reason she'd invented not to face what she'd always known: she was a man. The procedures that were meant to destroy her instead clarified something she'd been too afraid to name. What they removed were parts that had never felt like hers. What remained was the truth.
Over the next three years, Aurora Harrington ceased to exist. In her place, through surgical reconstruction in Prague, testosterone therapy, two years of elite combat training across four continents, and the help of Maddox - a former Special Forces operative who became her handler, protector, and closest friend - Lucian Longhart was born.
