Being pretty is a privilege. But why don't we acknowledge it? Dylan is the only coloured girl in her final year class. Growing up Asian in a white-dominant community warped her perceptions of beauty and she believes she could never be as 'pretty' as the tall thin non-coloured girls in her grade. Her mom often lectures her "Gwapa, you are beautiful just the way you are" before school and she KNOWS she'd be a sucker if she fell for another masculine white male who played sports - but deep down, Dylan feels she needs to do something about her low confidence. Whether it's to stop being afraid of the sun in fear of her skin getting darker, or to change her idea of success from 'how men see her' to 'how she sees herself', Dylan can't help but think if she's even pretty enough to do anything about it.

A collection of poetry from the young mind of a black, teenaged girl that experiences hardships and witnesses struggle on a day-to-day basis. There will be use of AAVE (African-American Vernacular English). Before you say anything about how it isn't "proper English," learn the background behind it. AAVE has grammatical rules just like any dialect. The most common example of AAVE is zero copula or copula deletion, which refers to the absence of an auxiliary verb. It occurs frequently in standard English as well. Another example of AAVE you will witness is the dropping of the last letter of a word. Words like "singing" become "singin'" and words like "respect" become "respeck." REMINDER: I am recounting my emotions and thoughts. There are somethings that you may not agree with or experience, but you DO NOT attempt to silence me. DO NOT try to belittle my problems as if they are something so trivial.

The Avalonian Coup and assassination of the Venti Queens has left Northern Flareia in turmoil. Olivier, Flae and Kylan decide to turn to the other Flareian countries for help, with the intention of forming a Flareia-wide alliance against Tommel, the False King on the Avalonian Throne. However, with the Gaian and Venti Dragonheirs missing, an alliance is not something that can be made easily. As they travel to Anemasi for help from the Spirit Dragon, hysteria is spreading across Umbrasse. Emperor Nequami insists the Dragonheir perished in the coup, but a rumour begins to spread that he is alive, and willing to help. With the shadows spreading more rapidly across Flareia, and his country pushing more than ever to overthrow their Emperor, Kylan must make a choice - to follow his wishes of not becoming Emperor himself, or leave many of his friends to die.
