Gatsby's a smart-mouthed orange, stripey cat who loves going outdoors, talking to witnesses, investigating leads and putting his neck on the line in the pursuit of justice. Yoshi's a witty and wise black cat who won't step a paw outside of his house but who can process the information that Gatsby brings him into solutions for even the trickiest mysteries. Petectives: Under Fire by Robert J. Smith - It's the 4th of July and the Petectives are feeling the heat! In the midst of a sweltering heat wave, feline detectives Yoshi and Gatsby get word that an old enemy is back and running a protection racket in their neighborhood. When an attack lands Gatsby's girlfriend in the veterinary hospital, he gets hot under the collar but it may take Yoshi's cool logic to shut down a gang of animal criminals and clear a dog from a horrible accusation. The Petectives are back and there's going to be fireworks!

Gangs. Pets. Strays. There are hundreds of cats in the city of Runberg, yet their lives are all very different. Some are pampered and spoiled, some are abused and on the brink of death. Some hate humans, some love them. But when a friendly stray is hurt so badly he is taken away to the SPCA, a few other cats decide that their lives are worth so much more. They don't want to be the same old stereotypical cats, lazy and useless. They want to be something in this world. And they will.
