*The inspiration for this book came from Matched, by Allie Condie, and The Giver, by Lois Lowry.* Sixteen-year-old Fern Gerder lives in the City, a controlled society that is free from injustice, inequality, and meanness. Fern has always thought the City is a bit confining, but she is happy enough with her Choice School Classes, her volunteer job as a Food Bringer, and her nice, modern Housing that her family occupies, that she doesn't complain about anything. After all, she has good food, a nice job that will look good on a Future School application, a good education, a warm house, an a loving family. Why would she complain? But her view on the City changes when she finds a locked box in the Government Center - a lock without a key or Passcode. Curious, she starts studying the box, and finally opens it. But when she opens it, she wonders if she should have just let it be. Because, in the box, is a truth about the City. One that could mean death for everyone. One that could destroy the world.

The world is cruel, she thinks. Cruel, often unfair, and extremely coincidental. New York had never been easy, but then again, neither was she. She's a writer. The world was critical, he thought. Critical, overly observant, and surely hypocritical. For someone who quite literally had the world in his hands, he seemed to be lacking something. He was Harry; band member gone solo now soon to be actor. disclaimer: takes place shortly after the boys' hiatus. harry is his normal character, but has been mia in the public. ava is completely unaware of who he is, and for a while, harry neglects telling her.

A teenage girl was mentally abused in her household, she constantly felt worthless. Her parents were homophobic and that was a big problem considering she was lesbian. They would abuse her so often she had enough. Everyday she tried to plan a runaway plan but never got the chance to succeed in it. When they decided to send her to a camp to get rid of her " lesbian phase " she finally put her plan in motion. One day while her parents were out she tried to make it outside. It took a great amount of courage to get out but she made it for once. She didn't know where to go and ended up at a club. She met a girl there who helped her through her journey. Once they got to know each other better things started to change. The runaway changed her life forever, but for the better or the worse?

Rebecca died. There was a funeral. Rebecca's next step was to rest in peace. The City, on the other hand, had other ideas.
