La raza humana ya no se consideraba algo existente, los pocos sobrevivientes habían sido modificados para resistir las condiciones que imponía el nuevo planeta dentro del que residían, entre ellos estaba Takanori; biomédico que dedicó gran parte de su vida dentro del planeta azul para preservar su propio linaje, terminó cediendo a las presiones del gobierno para la creación de nuevas tecnologías aplicadas sobre las personas y su medio artificial.
