A 500 word short story for the contest #MyHandmaidsTale, by #Hulu and #MargaretAtwood. In this tale, the effects of the American dystopia spreads down South, to Brazil, where culture and social traits lead to another type of persecution and pain. If you read it, please do comment. A dark encounter with a fearful mission.

My entry for #MyHandMaidsTale Contest! When loneliness overcame Margot Jane, she welcomed abandoned elderly woman into her home so that they too would find comfort--but bitterness soon took its toll when a letter arrived from her husband, leaving her for a younger woman. Now, she seeks to bring down the young men in her town who have lost all perspective of true beauty. Margot's "London Foxes" are trained to be classy and cunning--and best of all, they make any man in town look utterly superior for a price. Men may seek them out as personal escorts or dignitaries, but they'll soon realize these women have a purpose all their own.

This is my idea of what happens in the next chapter in The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. I may write more, when I know myself what happens next as even I don't know the outcome of my chapter aha. All credit to Atwood for her original characters and locations. All credit to other creaters for all other characters I borrowed from alternate universes :) The title will likely change if I write more :)

This is a fan-fiction based on the world of "The Handmaids Tale". It is its own story with its own characters and the struggles they face. We follow multiple characters in this story with each character telling their story in their own chapters; Maryanne, Linda, Thomas and Yvonne. I have only written one chapter, told by Maryanne, so far. I will continue to write whenever I have time and inspiration. Let me know if you like it! (English is not my first language so this can make my writing and especially the conversations between characters seem odd and misplaced, so please let me know what I can change to make it better!).

From the coasts of the peaceful islands of Ione, a wall of dense smog of the Nation looms from the distance, threatening the island. Queen Ailani had always dreaded the day her island will be mercilessly devoured by the Nation and her people will succumb to the rule of their own leader. But when it was too late, they had already obtained a strong grip around the island and were slowly suffocating it more and more with each passing day. Now she looks at the constitution in front of her with a pen in her hand and a gun pointed at her head. For years she was forced to watch as these foreigners slowly took over her land and her people. Her own people are divided from loyalty to their nation and their Queen or to the illusion of wealth and power of the Nation. Armed with the dangerous combination of greed and impatience, the foreigners staged a coup throughout her island. She stands at a crossroads: sign away her island or her life. This story is inspired by Queen Liliuokalani, the last reigning monarch of Hawaii, who stood against the rising world power of America to protect her sacred lands and beloved people. - Wattpad selected me to be part of a campaign on behalf of Hulu for Margaret Atwood's "The Handmaids Tale". From its sole focus on feminism and women empowerment, I was inspired to create a story from such values. In a time when women are still undermined, the world needs a flood of more literature to spread this. So I'm honored to be part of this opportunity to contribute my writing to the feminist movement.

As an avid film watcher I took it upon myself to be apart of the narrative. Here I'll post analysis' on movies, TV shows, and other pieces of film I have something to say about. For #thehandmaidstale! Here goes a description! I saw her threw the window, I saw all the sexual people up 5 feet beside me. My daughter? Will she ever actually love me? Or would she just stay with.. The red dressed 'LADIES' hmm? Well, she would rather go kill herself, go right ahead. Since I haven't watched it and I can't watch it without paying Hulu, (I'm not over 18, I can't) So, by what I've seen, here goes. This story is based off Repunzel.

As many of the other enslaved girls, Micha, a Handmaid, is only wanted for her fertility. Ranked above many of the others but also hated and envied for her beauty her life is reduced to who has more power and can have her... In a near-future chaotic world where religion, oppression and pollution rule; Micha will need to make the decision of accepting her life with her new master or gain his trust and escape to a free world. Inspired by The Handmaid's Tale, for #MyHandmaidsTale contest.

This one would make it, this one had a fire in her he had never seen before. She was a magnet, a blazing fire and he was the moth, and he wasn't going to stop until she was his.

They meaning your parents, teachers, friends, and etc. have told you from a young age to be yourself, but then say the contradicting statement of being part of the group. To what degree does someone change oneself to follow the norm? In Alarcon's sestina explore how society dictates and does not in ones life and if their is a healthy medium of remaining oneself and being part of a group.

In a future where women's rights have been eradicated, resistance lives on in a woman strong enough to keep a secret, to pass on her carefully guarded knowledge to others, and to risk her life for the faint hope of freedom in the future...even if that freedom won't be her own.
