❝Assallam alay-❞ Holy chicken. Hottie alert. Does my veil look sexy? The holy month of Ramadan; a month where Muslims are required to fast, abstain from sins, and connect spiritually with Allah. It's also the month where Paulina Suarez--the practicing, straightforward, biracial Muslimah--tries to avoid acting on her feelings for the goofy baker boy who has been assigned to make food for her break of fast for the next 30 days. 30 days. She just has to endure his heartwarming smiles, sense of humor, and amazing talent in the art of making samosas for 30 days without jumping his bones. ...And without killing that co-worker of his that's just trying to get to him before Ramadan is up. Yep...no pressure at all. *** a/n: so much fluff... you'd probably suffocate. THIS IS AN OLD DRAFT. Featured Under Editors' Picks, April 2021. WINNER OF THE LEBOOK AWARDS (BEST CHICKLIT/HUMOR) 2016 cool cover by Mistalee_

The sign went up one day like a stone tablet from God, prophesying the end of their small community. "Walmart Coming Soon" Neo was the first to notice it. He took a double take as he passed it, immediately turned around, and ran the damn thing over. He knew it wouldn't do any good, knew it wouldn't accomplish much other than a few dents in his car-but he didn't care. At the very least, it was a response. A warning. Of what was to come if these idiots chose to mess with HIS town. He defended it once...he'd gladly do it again.

A short collection of poetry I've written over the years. That's it, in a nutshell. If you see a dedication, click on over to their profile. I'll dedicate things to people on and off if something in the piece reminds me of something they've done. I promise you they are all very very good, and generally, not quite discovered.

It is the year 2108. Earth has become too polluted, flooding has become too dire, and mankind too numerous, for humanity to remain on their home world. Space colonization has begun, with the first space elevators, a burgeoning Mars colony, and expansive dome-cities on the moon. In order to bear with the drab setting and alien nature of their new environment, virtual and augmented reality has come to the forefront. Where once, generations huddled in front of a glowing box to play video games for hours, now Earth's first generation of orphans explore rich environments of virtual and augmented reality, using neural implants. AIs have spread throughout the system, beginning the efforts of terraforming the various worlds within their local neighborhood, and sending mankind's eyes further and further out beyond the Kuiper belt. Then, the light from a nearby supernova engulfs the Solar System. Nearby Spica, a binary system 240 light years from Earth, has exploded, producing more light than an entire galaxy full of suns. Mankind and AI's telescopes turn outwards during the event, seeking new plutoids and dwarf worlds to colonize, and discover something ominous. A rogue planet three times the size of Earth, approaching at high speeds through the Oort cloud, scattering comets in its wake. At first, mankind plans to arrange a rendezvous with the strange rogue, but signs that the world was once inhabited combine with strange radio signals coming from the world itself to indicate that the rogue is something more than just a dead rock hurled out from its sun, possibly something far more valuable--or more deadly--than a new planet. He could only see the colors in people. She saw nothing but gray. He took life for granted. She captured life on camera. "One more smoke won't hurt." He would say. "One more smoke will bring you closer to the brink of death." She would reply. "Yeah? Well, maybe I want that." Was always how he ended it. It was odd how much they differed.

And there I stood, drained - from every emotion. The flying lights surrounded me, and my eyes didn't bother to follow them. I just stood. I wasn't fighting for my people anymore, or for my freedom - or his. I wasn't fighting for equality or justice anymore. I wasn't fighting for happiness. I wasn't fighting for the future or for the present. I wasn't fighting to revenge death or lost love. I wasn't fighting for earth, or what stood on it, breathing. I wasn't fighting for him either. I wasn't fighting for anything at all - not even for myself. And that was where I stood, still and quiet. Just watching, not waiting, not feeling. I hadn't given up, I had just let go. >

Michael Bakerson had come from a tough background. He had only ever tasted meat once. His village was poor and struggled to survive. There was one thing that gave him hope: the military. When he is given a chance to join the Army, he grasps it with both hands. However, his dream quickly fades into something far more sinister, as the sides become less clear cut than ever. Set in an alternate future where the nuclear bomb was never created and there was nothing to stop the USA and USSR in plunging into a deadly war, this novel follows the story of a team that have no choice but to take on the establishment - and pay the price. Credit to stereotypical_ for the incredible cover.

Do you know Aria Thomson? Well if you don't then that's okay because the other 7 billion people on this existing planet didn't know her either. And even to the few people that did know her, most people would say that Aria was well...bland. She was your average 12 year old and at first sight you would think she had no personality. Aria dressed the same every day, speaking always with a monotone like voice that showed no emotion and even her fiery red hair seemed somewhat tame. This was what she wanted most people to think of her, but if you dug a little deeper you would find a different side to her. The side of a fan girl, someone smart beyond their years and someone who had way more personality then one could comprehend. Though that was the side that no one could find out about because being different was the worst thing Aria could have right now. Being different never got someone adopted and it never will, especially in Aria's case. Devon Woodworth is not someone you would describe as responsible; in fact, responsible would probably be the opposite of who he was. Although if you would have said something along the lines of player or man-whore then maybe we would be talking about the right person. With a well-built body and luscious brown hair being ogled at was no strange matter for Devon. Some people might call him handsome, dreamy, maybe even "exotic" (this is the point where many of us gag and laugh), but those people might have a point about him being one of people's sexiest men alive, he was on Forbes's most eligible list after all. All these things have some sort of benefit but when Devon is put into a supposed fatherly position, things go down the drain and no amount of money can save him. Thanks @soundthealarm for making this cover!
