"Wait!" Momo blurted, pulse hammering louder than the recent explosion. "I... I didn't get your name."
The girl paused mid-step. Her head tilted just enough for her eyes to meet Momo's again, a flicker of curiosity and something playful glinting within them.
"Mei Evangeline Aizawa."
Her voice carried grace and a quiet strength, as though she belonged to some old story where warriors were also royalty.
Momo's heart stumbled. Evangeline. Aizawa. Mei. Beautiful name. Beautiful girl. Her brain actually short-circuited from how stunning she looked in the glow of drifting dust and morning light.
"I-I'm Momo Yaoyorozu," she managed, sounding far more breathless than she intended.
Mei's lips curved into a small, mysterious smile.
"I know."
Then she was gone-vanishing down the street like a whisper, leaving Momo rooted in place, face burning, pulse racing, and the world somehow brighter than it had been moments before.
Momo pressed a hand to her chest. Goodness. Normal teenage walks, it seemed, came with far more excitement than she bargained for.
