I've never been one for pictures. The posing, the lighting, angles, and spacing ... It was all just too much for me to bear. So when Theodorus asked me to model for his older brother, the famed Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh, I wasn't sure what to expect.

უჩვეულოა, მაგრამ საკუთარ ნახატებს არასდროს ასრულებდა. არცერთ მის ნახატში არ იყო ასახული ბოლომდე დასრულებული კომპოზიცია, მაგრამ ამას უცხო თვალი ვერასდროს შეამჩნევდა. ისინი მუდამ ჩვენი თვალისთვის უხილავი შტრიხების ნაკლებობას განიცდიდნენ, მაგრამ მთელ კედელზე შესრულებული ბიჭის პორტრეტი განსაკუთრებული შემთხვევა იყო. და მაშინ როცა გოგონა ნამუშევრის ბოლო დეტალებს ასრულებდა კარზე ზარის ხმამ დროებით მოსწყვიტა სამუშაოს. კარის გაღების შემდეგ კი ხელში უცნობი ფოსტალიონი შერჩა. დაბნეულმა გამოართვა მამაკაცს ყავისფერ ქაღალდში შეფუთული ყუთი და ამანათი გახსნა. ყუთში კი გამჭირვე ჩასადებში მოთავსებული დისკი დახვდა, რომელზეც ვინსენტის 'ვარსკვლავიანი ღამე' იყო გამოსახული. დისკთან ერთად იდო პატარა, გახუნებული ფურცელი წარწერით 'ამაღამ ვინსენტთან'.

I've decided to speak to him directly, to write to him as he wrote to his brother Theo throughout his life. As crazy as it sounds, I know he is reading my letter as we speak.
