Refute the historical fabrications that served to help usher in an era of colonization. Dismantle the ideological standpoints held and weaponized by the ones who saw us for the first time and allowed their greed to dictate their actions. We are human beings. And we remember the past. It is time to acknowledge these acts of terrible shame so that the cycles of pain and torment can begin to cease.

A random viewing of a photo of Margaret Mead documenting Maxwell Street in Chicago, taken in 1956, immediately transported me back in memory to a time and place that no longer exists. This is an eulogy to a physical place and time, and a fervent hope for the future. The cover photo is not mine. Image found via [Forgotten Chicago/Facebook]

Being Indigenous in a world that feels like it just wants to forget about us is not an easy life. We are a protrusion to a society that only wants to look forward toward progress. We are a hindrance to the goal of expansion and development. We see what others wish to be blind to. It is not our fault for the way we choose to exist. It is not a sin for us to be who we are. This is us in all dimensions of time. Past, Present, Future. Understand that we do not hate the world, nor anyone in it. For it is the opposite! We still love this world. We will defend it with everything we have and are, even if you will not.

"Goodbye, Ellie. I'm sorry I was too late. If there was a way to reverse it, I would." -- "I just want to know if I can trust you."She asked me this again. The big boss. A psychic. Like me. Though I'd never seen her eye mark. Or seen her use her powers. Maybe she got it taken out. Lots of people did. But I knew she had been one, because the first time I saw her, she was making a portal for two boys. But that was a long time ago. "You know you can trust me, m'am. You have before." "Don't call me 'm'am', and I don't remember any of that. By the way, I'm also assigning--" "Me to a psychic who doesn't know how her powers work and only recently found out she was a psychic. I know." "Good boy. Remember, you have to keep those two safe and sane. Who knows what they'll do if their full power is unlocked." "I can tell you that I've seen it and that it's not very pretty. But you can trust on me, m'am." "I said don't call me that." -- The sequel to Wings.

There was nothing I could do as she held her hand out to Ellie and led her off into this glow. I was frozen, suspended, unable to do anything, not even move my eyes. And because of this, I couldn't scream. I couldn't cry. I wanted to move. I wanted to move. I wanted. To move. And I did. -- Angels are not religious figures. They are their own species. Aliens, in fact, ones that have adapted to control every aspect of their body after years of unpleasant surprises while trying to find a permanent home. They have also finally been able to find a place to call home. Well, they more created it. Mockingly called 'Eden', Angels live here and flourish, where everything slows down. You can't do anything much, here, and you don't progress, but it gives you a pleasant feeling, one that makes you want to stay. Angels bring crippled humans here, so they can last forever, and be happy. But Amelia is a stubborn girl, and she will not have her sister taken from her.
