Kai and her two siblings are sent away from home to a safer area in a war torn country. They are sent off with the clothes off their backs and as much as they could fit into three backpacks. Kai, Marlo, and Sophie have to survive on their own in the war torn countryside.

Shadowed by the everlasting blizzard, they have no choice but to seek shelter between the stone brick walls of Castle Rock, which soon turns out to be a bad decision. The two find themselves unconscious after a smack to the back of their heads. They awaken after a bit, each in their own environment with no trace of the other. As you traverse the icy plains, you stumble upon a pretty thick, sealed book. You take it to the chapel to open it with your friend and find out that it is in fact... a storybook... with most of its pages yet to be written...
