Some live life carefree and happy, and success finds them along the way. For others, their journey for success leaves them empty handed. For others, they can watch and imitate those around them that have achieved everything they can hope for, but still fail. For some, no matter how hard they work- the goals they strive for- nothing works, and they are left in the dust by their luckier counterparts, who just look back and laugh. This started as an English Honors assignment and became much more.

This was a school project that I might expand on, I don't know yet, but it was a fun assignment. Basically, I had to come up with a date between Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman. Hope you enjoy!

My favorite poetry. The majority will cover themes that have to do with a sort of wondering or longing. Expect a lot of Walt Whitman and Shakespeare. Also a huge DPS fan so a lot of the poems from that will be in here.

The use of explicit language in this text has been the reason behind attempted bannings. "Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by the American poet Walt Whitman. This book is notable for its delight in and praise of the senses during a time when such candid displays were considered immoral. " (via Wiki)

Leaves of Grass is a poetry collection by the American poet Walt Whitman. Though the first edition was published in 1855, Whitman spent most of his professional life writing and re-writing Leaves of Grass, revising it multiple times until his death. -Wikipedia Originally published July 4, 1855

This poem is inspired by Walt Whitman's Leaves Of Grass. One can find the gist of his entire work in this poetry, I've summarised his message and the essence of his work in Leaves Of Grass in the form of a poetry.

There are only two poems that I have and remember writing in High school. Possibly Freshmen year. Edit: As of 4/19/2022, I have taken an American Literature class in my college. There are about 2-3 weeks left, and I have some new original poems that have stemmed from it. Edit 2: 5/14/2022 All my classes have ended for the semester. I have the summer now, and anything added to this is just random whims of my built-up imagination. Edit 3: 10/14/2022 I'm taking a creative writing class and I have some poems to add from it.

Short stories I have written over the past five years that I may never finish-ranging from a preacher who lied about the word of God to a little girl with monsters in her basement, these are all stories I wrote myself and may never continue. In the words of Mr. Keating from Dead Poets Society, a yawp is a loud cry or yell. Walt Whitman once said that "I sound my barbaric yawp over the rooftops of the world." People yawp to call out in despair or victory or anger. It is your mark on the world. And maybe these stories will be mine.

A poem that blooms at a certain point in the life of every individual, Pure attempts to resolve an existential crisis begotten by society. It expresses feelings of intense confusion, which leads to exploration, and then discovery - a process in which the bearer of such fervent passion for understanding "itself" and the world has to challenge; and in this case, alone. However, weathering this desolate storm alone brings all kinds of thoughts. Death is but one of them.

This is a short poem I wrote imitating the poem structure similar to Walt Whitman. Using parallelism, free-verse components, and adding personal touches, I created a poem to express feelings shared throughout the country during the Vietnam war. I understand not everyone shared these views and I'm not stating this was a meaningless war. Men and women lost their lives. For what cost? I'm not sure. I highly respect the men and women who lost their lives for this country, but we must remember the victims of one if the most unorganized conflicts we have ever been involved with. The Vietnamese civilians and so on. The cover picture is not mine. Just found on the internet. I hope you enjoy.
