Clive (the Human illegal goods merchant with optimism to spare and an unbreakable will) along with "Cathy" (the rogue Potentatur soldier who is surprisingly gentle and curious) and "Idin" (the Tiline ex-sailor, now Clive's coworker and best friend who has an abrasive personality and a big heart) is on the run from the mighty and tyrannical Potentatur Empire---a society of mindless drones that seemingly have no free will---as he escaped one of their prisons and now needs to be made an example of. Why was he imprisoned in the first place? He's not sure. All that he knows is that he can never stop running. And neither can Cathy and Idin, as Cathy, having free will of her own, broke from the shackles of the oppressive Empire and Idin decided to come along for reasons they refuse to explain, much to Clive's frustration. Along the way they face many challenges together, both physical and emotional and so form an unlikely trio. So not everything has to be so bad. Clive can still somehow fix this! He can still find a way to live a peaceful life somewhere eventually... Right? This sci-fi/action story is about hope, friendship, found family, guilt, forgiveness and everything going wrong.
