"The world is your canvas" That's what I have been told countless times. "Make something out of yourself, Haruka." They tell me. "What are you doing with your life Haruka?!". They nag. Can't you all just leave me alone to my work? Haruka Saruhashi is a college freshman art major who has moved to the United States with her family. An introverted otaku by nature, she struggles to adapt to a new culture and begin life in a new country. It also does not help that she takes online courses and the only times she goes outside are when she is running errands for her family. However, this does not mean she does not receive her fair share of the exciting and wondrous things life has to offer. Getting mixed up with complete strangers, and exploring the unknown, she tries to grasp a concept of what the world is. I don't remember much of being taken towards the hospital just being asked lots of questions that for the life of me I could not answer and lots of tests being done around me. I just remember thinking that the ambulance was too loud and I just wanted everyone and everything to be quiet and to let me be. Not likely. I remember having the most amazing dream when sleep eventually enveloped me. I was back home safely with my family. Not on my own. Not constantly looking over my shoulder and not speaking to many people. No. I was back home, my home, with my family. My Mum, my Dad and my little sister Zoë. But instead I was running constantly moving from place to place, changing my name and my look just to keep everybody safe. I was just safe, happy and warm. I am not very interesting with my average brown coloured hair, dull green eyes and average figure. I've been running for too long now and it is time to go home. I need to do something before they get me, take me and keep me away for good. My name is Ava and this unfortunately is my story. So hold on tight. Good luck.

Just like most people, I'll be left unheard. It'll almost be like I didn't even exist. That I had no point in life but I lived. Sometimes I don't know why I'm still living. So many people deserved more than me but I got lucky. That's it, just lucky. I mean my parents don't have any time to care about me. Even with our wealth we're pretty poor. I would've stopped existing if it weren't for those hazelnut eyes. ___________________________ Nobody stayed with me, they all left. First my dad, then my sister and now the love of my life. Ever since dad's gone mom has been going out a lot. Sometimes for days and even weeks. My sister couldn't handle it and left me alone with mom. Life was tough but I thought it would be better when I met someone. I thought she was the one, but I was wrong. Life felt unliveable, nobody cared about me. I could've killed myself but I guess I found a reason not to.
