When you hit rock bottom, you can only go up. For Elizabeth Erickson, the climb back to where she was- and who she used to be- is more difficult than the fall. At 16, Elizabeth was set up to be a figure skating legend. She won her first national title at just 17, but by 18, she was crumbling under the pressure with lackluster scores and a program she can't connect to. After taking time off from the sport following an all-too-public suicide attempt, she's trying to climb her way back to where she used to be. Plagued with nightmares and insomnia, she spends her nights skating, alone under the lights of the rink. Until the night Noah Li walks through the doors, with problems of his own he's looking to escape. Noah Li was already a force within the figure skating world at age 19. With two national titles and numerous international medals under his belt. He wasn't expecting an ankle injury to take him out of the sport for so long- or to throw him off his game as much as it did. There's something vulnerable under Noah's confidence that draws Elizabeth toward him. As the two get closer to each other and where they used to be, they find themselves healing. "Just be happy." Sure. Tell a dead person to just be alive. They'll magically resurrect. Right? Of course. *** Rain splattered like paint on my shirt. Or perhaps they were tears. Or both. Either way, I didn't care. My glasses were foggy and droplets decorated the lenses as if trying to make this tragic scene look like a beautiful melancholy. I scoffed. There was nothing beautiful about standing on a ledge, head empty and eyes tired, ready to fall into an endless sleep. "Stop," a voice whispered, a whisper that somehow sounded louder than the sound of my pounding heart, louder than the sound of the thundering rain, yet was so vulnerable, as if their life depended on my decision.
