A locked room. A poet dead by his own quill. A detective who sees what others cannot. London, 1889. When the celebrated poet Julian Croft is found dead in his study-door bolted from within, a crimson quill pen buried in his chest-the police call it suicide. The perfect, tragic end for a man who wrote of love and loss. But Eleanor Vance, a young journalist desperate for a real story, refuses to believe it. A man at the height of his powers does not simply vanish. She seeks out Professor Alistair Finch, a reclusive philologist who consults for Scotland Yard on cases that defy reason. He sees what others miss. He finds patterns in chaos. And he agrees to take the case. The room was impossible to enter. The weapon was too fragile to kill. The suicide note was too perfect to be real. As Eleanor and Finch peel back the layers of Croft's life, they uncover a rivalry that burned like poison, a shipwreck that may not have been an accident, and a woman named Isabella Rossi-a ghost whose return will shatter everything they thought they knew. Because the dead are not always gone. Sometimes, they're just waiting. And in the shadows of London, a collector is watching. A collector who doesn't just acquire beautiful things. A collector who destroys them. The game is afoot. But this time, the detective is not immune.

It's been a very trying year since Clarisse Ricci's world shattered dramatically. Her beloved father, Lorenzo, a larger-than-life billionaire that everyone admired for his kind, protective nature and savvy business management died suddenly. Everyone called it a tragic accident. Clarisse, however, isn't buying it. Now a senior in high school, with the looming thought of going to university and her future on the horizon, she cannot let go of the feeling that something darker happened. Her life soon takes a dangerous turn. Together with Joseph Samuels, her loyal (and occasionally stubborn) English boyfriend, and her creative thirteen-year-old sister, Camille, Clarisse dives into a mystery that threatens everything her parents built for them. The girls' mother, Isabelle, a world-renowned artist, tries to help, but even she is drowning in her own grief and distractions. Then the real danger steps out of the shadows: Harold Ward, Lorenzo's ruthless former COO, who's determined to claim the Ricci legacy for himself. Suddenly, Clarisse isn't just chasing answers but she is fighting to protect her family's future. If she fails, they could lose everything- their safety, their independence, and their chance at the lives they're just beginning to heal. Clarisse and Joseph thought turning eighteen meant gaining more freedom. Instead, it meant stepping up and risking it all. Will Clarisse and Joseph be able to succeed?

Halloween is truly a festive time of year. Spooky stories, haunted houses and vampires that you can't help but thirst over because you're weird like that. That's why Hale Woodsen's inviting you to the Traitre Museum. You know, that weirdly atmospheric place near 86th, the one with the dome ceiling? Yeah. There'll be music. Shadows. Smoke machines. Candlelight that definitely isn't safe. Maybe even a Ouija board or two. Costumes are absolutely mandatory - don't come dressed like a civilian unless you want to be sacrificed mid-party for the aesthetic. For everyone has suffered a tragedy recently, the disappearance of Luca Almirez. For those who don't know (you're living under a rock), the basketballer disappeared a month or two ago, after the biggest game of his life. Nothing's been found about him, and to be honest? We're not sure if there ever will be. He was a best friend, a gifted sportsman, and overall a beloved member of society. Perhaps this is Hale's way of battling the grief. Since, you know, he was Luca's best friend. He's trying just as hard as everyone else to get to the bottom of this. His list of suspects is never ending, from Cady Lovaine to Ruel Cruz, to even Reverie Vale and Leslie Wilde. But they have hunches too, and so the story continues, dangerous and twisted. But that's not everything. If you want to get all the details, let's leave the Halloween party. Let's go to the 16th of August, where everything began.

Celia Jones can talk to the dead, but getting on with them is a different story. She always has at least three spirits following her around, complaining about their relatives, or the inadequacy of their funeral arrangements. The latest is a murdered actress, Maude Domby, but she's less interested in denouncing her killer than in accusing the understudy of stealing her favourite pearls. When the charming but utterly fraudulent medium Stanley Winter holds a séance to contact Maude, Maude insists she and Celia should attend, to see people mourning her 'properly'. But the séance ends up implicating an innocent woman, and now Stanley Winter is banging on Celia's door, begging her to help him find Maude's real killer. Unfortunately, helping Stanley Winter could lead Celia to confront her other power - the one that's both lighter and infinitely darker than talking to the dead. ONC Prompt: 72. A real necromancer sits in on a fake séance.

25-year-old Grace Avery is a stunning woman working as a detective/investigator. Due to her looks, she often gets sexist remarks from her colleagues, seen only as an object of praise and beauty rather than a fellow detective. Annoyed and frustrated, she goes to an old friend for help and assistance, asking for a partner who doesn't care about her looks and has the brains to work with her, to which she learns that there is a person who could help her, the problem lays in the fact that, that person is the very same man who Grace knew and hated in high school, Basil M. House. Will Grace continue to hate his guts? Is Basil the same man whom Grace knew in High school? And will their relationship change? This is a reimagining of Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Besides being a reimagining, it's also a composite of different mystery stories and movies that I loved, so don't be surprised if some of the cases or puzzles look familiar. Apologies for the grammar mistakes:( Really enjoyed writing this:) This story is also on royal road

Originally written for a Clue by Candlelight competition in 2024, this mystery is now available here on Wattpad as part of my Archibald Clayborn collection, free to read, while I work on new projects. Retired Detective, Archibald Clayborn is summoned to his childhood sweetheart's family home, Warren House, after the death of her husband. Coming to Camilla's aid, Clayborn suspects he is there to comfort her. He couldn't be more wrong. Camilla believes her husband was murdered and her list of suspects are currently in Warren House. Clayborn agrees to help, however, before he can embark on his investigations, another murder happens! But who is the culprit? Is it... The somewhat standoffish maid, Mrs. June Carter? She may be pleasant to Clayborn, but does that extend to the rest of the guests? Or could it be Mr. Tracey Mars, the late Lesley Cartwright's business partner? His bullish attitude and short temper aren't the only things to make him a suspect, he may have a motive too. Then there's Dana Trudeau, a Hollywood actress traveling with Mars. A temptress to be sure, but does she have ulterior motives for coming to Warren House? The last of the Hollywood troupe, the reserved-but outspoken when provoked-scriptwriter, Mr. John Smithe doesn't seem to fit the picture of a murderer, but Clayborn can't deny motive might be there with the longstanding friction between his employers. Or is the murderer closer to home? Could it be the family physician, Dr. Royce Trenton? His outrage at being asked the simplest of questions does make Clayborn suspicious that he's hiding something. Last, there is Dr. Trenton's young niece, Diana Darling. An innocent to be sure, except for one thing; she wants to be an actress. Is Miss Darling as innocent as she appears, or is it all an act? Clayborn has his work cut out for him to catch this killer. Perhaps you can help him?

A billionaire is dead. Another is watching. And the woman chasing the truth may already be his obsession. When the COO of Arcadia Software is found murdered in his Manhattan penthouse, the city smells blood. The press swarms. The board panics. And Aiden Blackwell, the company's devastatingly private CEO says nothing. He doesn't have to. Fresh off a career-making exposé that destroyed a pharmaceutical empire, an investigative journalist Mileena Monroe is assigned to break his silence. Her reputation precedes her: relentless, fearless, impossible to manipulate. She's built a career dismantling powerful men. Aiden Blackwell was never meant to be one of them. Brilliant, composed, and dangerously unreadable, Aiden exists in a world where secrets are currency and desire is leverage. As grief over his best friend's death curdles into something darker, he invites her into his orbit; an invitation she knows better than to accept, and can't afford to refuse. What follows is a slow-burning collision of intellect and instinct. A cat-and-mouse chase played out across penthouses, private conferences, and whispered conversations where every look is a challenge and every touch is a threat. The closer she gets to the truth, the more she risks losing control-not just of the story, but of herself. Because the murder wasn't random. The silence isn't empty. And Aiden Blackwell doesn't want to destroy her- He wants to unravel her. In a game where power seduces, truth bleeds, and love is the most dangerous liability of all, one question remains: Is she hunting him... or exactly where he wants her?
