In a world where traditions weigh heavily on women, Swara, a small-town introvert, is torn between her family's expectations and her own dreams. Bound by the symbols of marriage-sindoor and mangalsutra-Swara yearns for her true identity but finds herself shackled in a home where a woman's role is confined to the kitchen. Her husband, Meet, her only glimmer of hope, shatters her trust when he remains silent as his mother assigns Swara the domestic duties she had hoped to escape. Disillusioned and desperate, Swara flees to Indore, where she meets Poonam, a vibrant, free-spirited woman whose boldness and independence awaken Swara's dormant courage. Through Poonam's friendship, Swara begins a journey of self-discovery, questioning everything she was taught to believe. Meanwhile, Meet, grappling with his own traditional values, is determined to reconcile with Swara and win her back, even if it means confronting his own assumptions about marriage and identity. Caught between love, duty, and self-worth, Swara must decide whether to return to the life she left or to fully embrace the woman she is becoming.

"You're not reacting?" I said confused. He raised an eyebrow but otherwise looked indifferent. "Am I supposed to," it was more of a statement than a question but his lack of a reaction made me realize he actually had no clue who I was. I frowned at him analyzing him for a long time before my lips spread thin into a goofy grin. I gave him the biggest smile, one that I haven't given to anyone in a long time. "Rosabella," I said stretching my arm out in front of us. He stared at my outstretched hand for what felt like forever before his large hand wrapped itself around my smaller one. "Aries," he seemed to be making his grip as light as possible. Almost as if he feared that anything tighter than that would break my smaller hand in his. I tilted my head confused. "Like the god of war?" I asked. His grip suddenly tighten which made me flinch and he quickly let go before looking away from me as if trying to avoid eye contact. "Sure," he said. I was about to ask another question when I heard someone ask a group of ladies not too far away from us, "Have any of you seen this girl?" The woman looked at the picture and then looked up in confusion just before her eyes met mine and recognition hit her face like a slap to the cheek. I knew immediately that I had been found. "Shit," I said just as Ares walked up to what I was assuming was his motorcycle. He put his helmet on and guys speaking to the lady a few feet away turned around to look at where the lady pointed me out. I yelped and jumped on the back of Ares motorcycle hugging him from behind for dear life. "What are you doing?" "Drive!" I don't know if it was the panic in my voice or the fact that I was shaking uncontrollably but thankfully he didn't question me further. He instead, stepped on it and we were speeding through the town just before the men could react. ~

In these last couple of decades, women all over the world have suffered with almost the same thing: unequal pay, the need to have permission from a male, and so much more. In this short essay, I talk about the problems women go through every day and the things women have accomplished. I know it's not much but I tried my hardest, and that's what matters the most.

Women..... What image comes the first in your mind when u hear or read this term. I am sure most of you imagine a curvy , beautiful skinned, polite body with patience. And i don't think this is the right image. God created a women as a being. To be specific a body which has emotions, not in a specific way. Not on the basis of race, religion, language but to be called as a human being. Not to be objectified or labelled. Our society is not clean and it is not safe for women. Beleive it or not. I'd like to speak up about this topics as they are just ignored by many people. Please participate in this journey to take a step forward regarding topics labelled as just ignore it. If you want to discuss anything regarding your mental state, i am here all the time and just dm me and i will always make u feel at ease and u can stay anonymous if u want but please just don't die inside all alone.

Some might call this text "a story" while others would call it "a speech" and there are others who might call it "boring"... But I personally like to call it "an escape from facing my thoughts" but of course there is no category for that, so we call it "poetry" ...when you are bleeding on paper. Ladylike is for all my dear ladies out there who still feel like caged birds with their wings cut out... It's about the old-fashioned topic that we still have to fight today. Women's Rights. Inspired by Emmeline Pankhust speech, I present women rights throughout generations: "LadyLike". Hope you like it. And if you don't, DON'T LIKE IT AND LEAVE QUIETLY PLEASE. Thanks ;3 P.S . All the images are from Pinterest and they aren't mine. And that one line, "Sit Still and Look Pretty" is Daya's song. Check it out, it's great.
