Living among the poor in a cruel city, it isn't long before she is driven to turn against everything she believes in and become a thief. Then she makes a mistake, and the secrets she's been fiercely trying to bury come back to haunt her. The only place she may be safe is with the most dangerous person around. However, this mysterious new guardian seems to have ulterior motives in helping her, though Rizelle can't figure out what they could possibly be. A time in the future when vampires rule the world. A time in the future when humans are forced into hiding by those creatures. A time in the future when humans are not the hunters, but the prey. A time in the future when an eighteen year old girl has to kill on daily basis to survive. Katharine has always hated them, the leeches which call themselves the higher race, and she's always killed them alone. Alone because there never has been someone out there who has the skills required to out-match a vampire. But, she might be wrong, maybe, just maybe there other humans which have the talent to kill the leaches like she does. Maybe she isn't alone after all, maybe her sister is wrong.
