The summer following her 16th birthday, Natalie Pierce experiences the death of Daisy - the dolphin at the local aquarium in the seaside town of North Carolina and Natalie's best friend. Unable and unwilling to process this new-fallen tragedy, Natalie takes her kayak to the ocean. Though the ocean had claimed the lives of her parents in a sailing wreck when Natalie was only an infant, it is still the only place she manages to find peace. Instead of blissful calm as she had expected, an unpredictable summer storm strikes swiftly and Natalie is thrown into the brutally churning waters. Disoriented and frantic, Natalie discovers a curious dolphin lingering nearby and a shocking, newfound ability to breathe underwater. Stunned but determined to uncover the meaning of this power, she manages to follow the eccentric dolphin into the depths of the ocean. What she discovers is a magnificent underwater kingdom sprawling across the ocean floor. She discovers that her life may be more linked to this new world than she could have ever imagined. She is immediately thrown into training, as a long-standing prophecy marks her as the chosen one for a perilous quest. William, a young resident of the kingdom and Natalie's assigned mentor, instructs her in the art of battle - a skill she is forced to master as she is the only person capable of saving this kingdom from destruction. Traversing the depths of the ocean, the weight of an entire kingdom rests on Natalie's shoulders. She must decide what world she wants to be a part of: the ocean that captured the lives of her parents or her old life on land. If Natalie is to discover her true identity and her place in the kingdom, she must first save it from a menacing outside force.

She's his best friend's little sister. He's the biggest player of them all. They shouldn't be together. But this summer's just too tempting. Sixteen-year-old Emilia Moretti's goal for the summer is simple: forget her brother's best friend-Nick Grawsky-ever existed. It should be easy: He's spending his summer in the Hamptons, adding girls in tiny bikinis to his list of broken hearts. Guarantee he won't be telling them they're like his little sisters. This summer, Emilia won't stay awake at night thinking about him. She'll need flawless ballet movements to have a shot at next year's showcase, and she's finally ready to search for her birth parents. But when Nick decides to stay in the city, Emilia's resolve disappears in a pirouette. Maybe it's the spin they needed to be together. As long as she doesn't get stuck believing in happily ever after... Nick is tired of pretending to be the happy, let's-have-fun guy. His father wants him to change his career from professional dancer to...lawyer. He needs to put all of his focus on dancing to prove to Daddy Dearest he's good enough to make it big. And he may have a case of the bluest balls in history courtesy of Emilia. She's off-limits: The bro code with Roberto even forbids the dirty thoughts he has about her. Besides, he's not boyfriend material. He only has time for flings, for girls who don't expect much, for girls he doesn't want to kiss goodnight. He knows he should resist her, but he's not sure he wants to... At least for this summer. It's going to be a summer like no other.

"You can't escape me," he breathed into my skin with his nose dragging across my throat. He elicited a hot breath. "I'll be with you forever." The populace of Century High School seems pretty convinced that Aria Maree Kensington has it made. She has the perfect boyfriend who is the tight end on the football team and treats her right, a vivacious and lively best friend who can get her to all of the parties (even the ones the frat boys at Idaho State University throw!), and a front-line spot on the dance team. Her Instagram story sets a backdrop of what seems to be an idyllic life of sunset hikes with good friends, sweeping every dance competition, and travelling with her rich family. However, this is all just a mask that Aria wears proudly. In reality, Aria is actually struggling with bulimia and her family is riddled with mental health issues, causing for many fights at home and a near-death experience with her older sister. When her boyfriend, Samuel, begins to abuse her in more ways than just one, she tries to keep the facade she worked so hard to build strong -- even though she knows just how much she's concealing from reality. Split into two parts, Before and After, Two Of Us describes the hypocrisy of not only a predominantly Mormon community but also the typical American high schooler by examining the living contradiction that is Aria.

Forced to travel through Texas as the new Girl in the Box, Emmaline is completely trapped. As a middle school teacher, I am constantly in awe of the relationship between children and their cell phones! Most children are closer with their phones than any of their friends. It's become quite problematic. I've had students who cannot fathom more than moments at a time without their precious cell phones by their side. The need to check social media and be involved in the latest viral craze has become quite an epidemic. I wrote a story about one boy who so badly wanted to a part of the wave. However, his desire for a cell phone becomes an experience he will never, ever forget. Jessie Davidson is tired of being left out of group chats and Instagram posts! Everywhere he looks, his friends and classmates are hanging out not with each other, but through their cell phones. Jessie desperately wants to be included and constantly feels left out. His problem is that his parents don't believe that he should own a cell phone at such a young age. What's a young boy to do? Well, Jessie's problems appear to be solved one day when mysterious things start happening all around him. A strange looking man appears to Jessie and offers him a deal which he cannot refuse. A deal that gets Jessie exactly what he's always dreamed of, or so he thought. A deal that gets him his very own, brand new cell phone. Jessie finds out the hard way quickly that things are not always as they appear to be when his phone, his ticket for popularity and social super stardom begins doing things he could never dream possible. I'm inspired by they way young children interact with technology and social media, and think it is quite a frightening scene in 2019. I think there are endless scares to be had with modern day technology, and many books to be written. I envision a series of books revolving around the fears modern day technology, most notably social media, cell phones and gaming can bring. My goal is to bring our oldest fears to life through these new outlets for children.
