Maybe that's why I loved so hard. Maybe that's why I forgave so easily. Maybe that's why every goodbye felt less like an ending and more like proof of something I had been afraid of my whole life. That people leave. And no matter how much I wanted to be different, a part of me was still that little girl waiting for someone to stay.

Growing up Emily didn't really have a normal childhood. Her mom stole her at birth after divorcing her husband Nick and raised Emily as a boy.
