Paige Denver and Lena Mays thought they had their tickets out of the small town as soon as they marched off the graduation stage of their 45 student high school class. Paige would join a summer program in the city and continue her education at a progressive urban college; Lena would take to traveling the world with her wanderlust aunt, Aunt Becca. When Paige's financial aid falls through, she's left to part time employment at the only store in town. Lena's big break out of her small world takes the back burner when her aunt finds herself pregnant the week after graduation. Babysitting, mowing lawns, cooking, and cleaning for the elderly may be a nice summer gig, but it looks like her rural roots are holding on for longer than just the season.
These two girls have a secret bigger than this tiny town was meant to hold. They're high school sweethearts hiding their love in a town that values church more than change. When best laid plans bite the dust, Paige and Lena can no longer run from themselves--or each other. If they run to each other, their lives will never be the same. Neither will the place they call home.
Should they stop choosing between queer and country? What will life be like if they pick both?
